Minister Bruton on trade visit to United States

Enterprise Minister Richard Bruton will tomorrow begin a week-long trade and investment mission to the West Coast of the United States, where he will meet a number of key American corporations.

Ahead of the visit, the Minister said:

The US remains the largest source for inward investment to Ireland. US companies contribute greatly to the strategic regional focus with investments from corporations such as Boston Scientific in Galway, Genzyme in Waterford, Abbot in Sligo.

Ireland is home to approximately 500 US corporations directly employing over 100,000 people. New and established multinationals continue to invest and re-invest in their operations making Ireland one of the global locations of choice for mobile investment projects for the world’s leading companies.

My focus over the next week will be to secure new investments or further investments from innovative US companies particularly in the IT, Gaming and BioPharma sectors. This is crucial to our export-led recovery and economic success.
