Taoiseach Enda Kenny today welcomed the announcement that nine Irish companies have announced new contracts and business developments worth more than €25million during the first three days of this week’s trade mission to the Gulf.

The Taoiseach is leading the trade mission, which is being organised by Enterprise Ireland, together with Jobs Minister Richard Bruton.

The contracts were secured on the Saudi Arabia and Qatar legs of the five-day mission, which now moves on to the United Arab Emirates for the final two days.

The Taoiseach said:

This is a fantastic result so far and I commend all of the companies who have made these announcements in Saudi Arabia and Qatar. We are immensely proud of their achievements and I assure them of the Government’s determination to provide the supports necessary to assist them in building their exports and creating the jobs we need at home.

Minister Bruton said:

These announcements show the huge opportunities that exist in these exciting markets, and represents a major achievement for these companies. I congratulate them on their success and look forward to further results over the coming two days.
