Taoiseach to meet with the President of the European Council, Mr. Herman Van Rompuy

The Taoiseach, Enda Kenny T.D., will today welcome Mr. Herman Van Rompuy to Government Buildings during his first visit to Dublin as President of the European Council.

Discussions between the Taoiseach and President Van Rompuy are expected to focus on issues on the agenda of the June European Council which will meet on 23-24 June, including economic issues, justice and migration matters, and international issues.

The Taoiseach will also take the opportunity to brief President Van Rompuy on the economic situation in Ireland and progress being made under the EU/IMF Programme.

While President Van Rompuy is in Dublin he will also meet with President McAleese in Áras an Uachtaráin, address the Institute of International and European Affairs, and visit Trinity College.
