New Ambassadors present Credentials

Their Excellencies, the Ambassadors of the Republic of Nicaragua, the Republic of Fiji and the Republic of Costa Rica presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

H.E. Ms. Guisell Morales-Echaverry, Ambassador of the Republic of Nicaragua, was accompanied by Mr. Ricardo Carioni, Deputy Head of Mission.

H.E. Mr. Jitoko Tikolevu, Ambassador of the Republic of Fiji, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Luisa Molidrau Tikolevu.

H.E. Mr. José Enrique Castillo Barrantes, Ambassador of the Republic of Costa Rica, travelled from London for the occasion, as did the Ambassadors of Nicaragua and Fiji.

Mr. Andrew Doyle, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, represented the Government at the ceremony.

The following were also present: Mr. Conor Ó Raghallaigh, Deputy Secretary-General to the President; Col. Michael Kiernan, Aide-de-Camp to the President; Mr. Adrian O’Neill, Second Secretary-General, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Mr. Joe Brennan, Ms. Claire Buckley and Mr. Patrick O’Reilly, Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Fergal Reilly.

A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the 1st Mechanised Infantry Company, Defence Forces Training Centre, Curragh Camp, Co. Kildare, under the command of Lieutenant John Paul Lee.

Captain Fergal Carroll conducted the Army No. 1 Band, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin.
