Tánaiste welcomes appointment of George Hamilton as PSNI Chief Constable

On the occasion of the appointment of George Hamilton as Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland, the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Eamon Gilmore, TD, said:

“George Hamilton brings a wealth of experience, expertise and dedication to the role. I know from my many friends in Northern Ireland that he is greatly admired by his colleagues in the PSNI and across the whole community.”

The Tánaiste said: “The PSNI carry out a crucial job in building and assuring the confidence of the community in policing and the rule of law. Today marks a new chapter for the PSNI. I wish George well as he undertakes this important and challenging role.”
