Taoiseach Enda Kenny launched a programme of four new exhibitions by Science Gallery at Trinity College Dublin.

Speaking at the launch, the Taoiseach mentioned Science Gallery’s key role in popularising an interdisciplinary approach that brings STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects together with the Arts - an approach known as the 'STEM to STEAM' movement, and the impact this is having on creating sustainable growth for Ireland:

Science Gallery’s exhibition and education programmes are fireballs of innovation and curiosity. There is no surprise they have captured the imagination of Ireland’s young people, inspiring them to consider courses and careers in the growing fields of science, technology, engineering and maths. The programme announced today promises that Science Gallery will continue to fuel the future success of the Irish economy through a focus on the ideas of young adults, innovation and creative approaches to problem solving - leading our continued economic recovery and leading the emerging “STEM to STEAM” movement worldwide.

Having received over 1.4 million visitors since opening in 2008, Science Gallery has grown rapidly to become Ireland’s fifth most popular free visitor attraction, with over 300,000 visitors last year. A non-profit organisation, it receives funding from Founding Partner the Wellcome Trust, its ‘Science Circle’ members Deloitte, ICON, Google, NTR Foundation and Pfizer; Science Foundation Ireland and the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
