Minister Sherlock congratulates Science Gallery on going global

Minister for Research and Innovation, Sean Sherlock, T.D., today [Wednesday] congratulated the Science Gallery on their plans to go global by building a Global Science Gallery Network. This is being facilitated by the granting of a prestigious gift of €1million from Google.org.

"Since its establishment over 3 years ago, the Science Gallery has proved its worth in engaging young people in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths and it is very gratifying to see its success being recognised in this very generous gift from Google. This funding will allow the very successful and innovative model that the Science Gallery have worked very hard to create to be replicated around the world and we should be proud of this achievement", said Minister Sherlock.

"The Science Gallery is an excellent example of collaboration between Government, its agencies and private sector sponsors and it has been a very welcome addition to Ireland’s science outreach capacity generating interest in a variety of scientific themes. I have no doubt that the Science Gallery’s dynamic exploration of the interface between science, technology and culture will resonate abroad and result in similar collaborations emerging across the world. I would like to wish the Science Gallery well in going global", the Minister concluded.
