Gay Byrne re-appointed as Chair of Road Safety Authority

Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar has re-appointed Gay Byrne as Chairman of the Road Safety Authority for a five year term.

The appointment was made following Mr Byrne’s recent appearance at the Oireachtas Transport Committee as Chairman designate.

"Gay has worked tirelessly to promote road safety over the last five years. He has also fulfilled his duties as Chairman of the RSA in an exemplary manner.

"His recent appearance at the Oireachtas Transport Committee was received very positively by the members. Many of them remarked afterwards on his excellent record, and the significant progress made by the RSA over the last five years in improving safety levels and reducing road deaths.

"I look forward to working with Gay Byrne in this area over the next five years."
