Appointment of the Programme Director of the new Reform and Delivery Office in the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform

Mr. Paul Reid has been appointed Programme Director of the new Reform and Delivery Office within the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform. This office will lead and facilitate the implementation of the Government’s Public Service Reform programme. It will support the Public Service to successfully deliver reform at local level, as well as leading on important cross-cutting reform initiatives.

 

The Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Brendan Howlin, T.D., has welcomed this key appointment stating that "Paul’s skills and experience will be invaluable as we drive the most ambitious programme of Public Service Reform since the foundation of the State". The Minister added that "it is a challenging yet exciting time for the Irish Public Service and everyone involved in the reform programme. I wish Paul every success in his new role and look forward to working with him".

 

Paul previously worked in eircom, where he held a number of senior management positions across the group. He was appointed as Executive Director of Operations and Networks in 2005 and held this position until 2010. During his time with eircom, Paul led the restructuring agenda to rationalise its cost base and transform customer service levels. Since 2010, he has worked with Trócaire in strengthening their overall governance and leading an agenda of change in both their Irish and international based activities. Paul holds an MSc (Mgmt) from Trinity College and a BA in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations from the National College of Ireland.
