In excess of €350,000 allocation towards Tralee regional sports and leisure centre - Deenihan

Jimmy Deenihan TD Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht today welcomed the announcement by his colleague Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring TD, that a sum of €377,660.00 has been allocated towards Tralee Regional Sports and Leisure Centre.

Possible enhancement works to be undertaken will include the installing of new ramps, widening doorways to allow wheelchair access, fitting hoists and providing purpose-built changing facilities. Local authorities will be matching or exceeding the funding in a number of cases.

The grant will also enable Tralee Town Council to improve energy efficiency as well as to enhance disabled access at the swimming pool.

Minister Deenihan said “the Local Authority is being advised of this allocation today and it is a condition of the grant that these funds which have to be spent by year’s end. This initiative will reduce the costs associated with heating the pool and reduce their impact on the environment.”

The total cost of the works on the Tralee Regional Sports and Leisure Centre is €397,54,000 with the balance of the money being provided by the Local Authority.
