Minister Deenihan launches revamped Kerry Film Commission Website

Monday, 10th March 2014 - Jimmy Deenihan TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, this afternoon launched the newly revamped Kerry Film Commission website www.kerryfilm.ie at the Manor Hotel in Tralee.

The website is a one-stop shop for advice and help with all Pre-Production, Production and Post-Production needs in County Kerry. It is focused on actively marketing the Kerry region as a film location, providing a comprehensive Production Support Service and supporting indigenous film productions in every way that it can.

The 2013 figures for the film industry show that production activity for the independent film, television drama and animation sector has reached the highest level on record, contributing over €168 million into the Irish economy through employment creation and spend on local goods and services. This represents an increase of approximately 18% on 2012 figures and 42% on 2011 figures.

This, together with Ireland’s experienced film, television and animation production companies, the multi-award winning Irish cast and crew both in front of and behind the camera and the availability of world class digital post production facilities make Ireland very attractive to overseas visitors.

Speaking ahead of this afternoon’s launch event, Minister Deenihan commented:

“County Kerry is a wonderful location for film production as we have some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. This website is a great resource as it provides information on locations throughout Kerry that might be suitable as film locations. These include Heritage Sites and places of Interest, locations in North Kerry and South Kerry, beaches, castles and forts, mountains and parks and wildlife. There are also numerous photographs displayed to show the beauty of Kerry.”
