Minister Shatter congratulates Garda Síochána and Revenue Customs Service on drugs seizures

The Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence, Mr. Alan Shatter, T.D., has congratulated the Garda Síochána and the Revenue Customs Service for the work leading to seizures of drugs in Dublin and Kildare today.

Minister Shatter said:

Garda Commissioner Callinan, and his Force, together with the Revenue Customs Service, are to be greatly commended for the extraordinarily significant seizures of drugs in Dublin and Kildare today.

Today's events demonstrate the determination and resourcefulness of An Garda Síochána and the Revenue Customs Service in tackling the activities of the major players in the illicit drugs trade.

I express my deep appreciation and support for their work on my own behalf, that of the Government, and, in particular, on behalf of communities who have to live with the evil which the deadly trade in illicit drugs causes.

For its part the Government will continue to do all it can, both nationally and internationally, to support law enforcement agencies in achieving successes like today's.''
