At its meeting today, the Government nominated Mr. Anthony M. Collins, S.C. for appointment as a judge of the European General Court. The nomination of Mr. Collins is to replace the current Irish representative on the General Court, Judge Kevin O’Higgins, whose term of office will expire on 31 August 2013. Mr. Collins’ term of office will run for a period of six years.

The Minister for Justice and Equality, Mr. Alan Shatter T.D. also paid tribute to the exemplary service and dedication of Judge Kevin O'Higgins and thanked him on behalf of the Government.
