Minister Reilly doorstep at Croke Park

You can listen to the audio of the doorstep which took place at Croke Park with Health Minister Dr James Reilly below. The Minister, who was attending a conference on retraining doctors, discussed the decision regarding an inquiry into Dr Michael Shine, setting up a patient safety authority, making sure that doctors "remain competent", health insurance and his discussions with the Dutch Minister for Health. The Minister also said that members of his Department will be travelling to Holland to look at the system there.

Asked about voluntary redudancy schemes in the HSE, the Minister said he would advocate another scheme, but that it would be fairer than previous schemes and would give people more time to decide.
