Taoiseach meets Canadian PM Justin Trudeau
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar today met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at Farmleigh House. The leaders held a bilateral meeting, followed by a press conference.
Both men reaffirmed their commitment to the trade agreement between the EU and Canada. Prime Minister Trudeau said that the Agreement will create stronger economic growth on both sides of the Atlantic and that Canada is looking forward to it coming into force. Both leaders spoke about the benefits of migration and said countries do best when open to the world.
The leaders discussed the importance of increasing female participation in politics, with the Taoiseach saying "diversity leads to better decision making."
The Prime Minister took in a demonstration of hurling and gaelic football from the Castlekock GAA Cúl Camp following the press conference.
