Commemoration Ceremony for the 97th Anniversary of the Easter Rising
A ceremony to mark the 97th Anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising took place outside the GPO, O’Connell Street, this afternoon.
The Ceremony was led by the President Michael D. Higgins, Taoiseach, Enda Kenny and Justice, Equality and Defence Minister Alan Shatter. Defence Forces personnel, including a brass band, a pipe band and representatives of the Army, the Air Corps, the Naval Service and the Defence Reserve took part in the Ceremony, which concluded with an Air Corps fly past.
