eBay Announces Creation of 450 New Jobs in Dundalk

Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Jobs Minister Richard Bruton today announced announced 450 high quality new jobs by eBay, Inc. The jobs will be based at the company's Operations Centre in Dundalk.

The new jobs will help provide the growing European customer base of the company’s eBay Marketplaces and PayPal businesses with an enhanced experience in the areas of customer services, sales and compliance. The new positions, which are in addition to 1,000 new jobs announced by PayPal last year, are located within its Customer Services team and also based at the Dundalk facility.

The Taoiseach said:

This announcement by eBay and PayPal is exceptional news for Ireland, the north east and Dundalk in particular. The fact that global technology leaders like eBay and PayPal are expanding their operations here shows that we have the local talent pool, infrastructure and business environment to attract high quality investments. Last week's agreement on bank debt will lead to further investment as confidence in the Irish economy continues to grow which is good for jobs and recovery.

Minister Bruton said:

Every job that is created by a multinational company in Ireland creates approximately one extra job elsewhere in the domestic economy – in supply companies, retail and other services. Key to the Government’s plans for jobs and growth is seeking to attract more jobs and investment from the strong base of world-leading multinationals we have built in Ireland.
