Taoiseach Launches new Eircom Fibre broadband products

Taoiseach Enda Kenny today launched a new Eircom Fibre Broadband  network. Eircom says the fibre service will provide speeds that are six to ten times faster than current broadband speeds.

eFibre offers download speeds of up to 70Mb as well as Ireland's fastest upload speeds of up to 20Mb. The download allowance is unlimited for all products above entry level. Qualifying Eircom broadband customers will be able to upgrade for free to eFibre and the deals will include a free modem, free installation and no connection charge.

The Taoiseach said:

We need to grow and expand Irish business in the digital market and investments like today's announcement by Eircom in providing business with the infrastructure to expand. I welcome very much Eircom's investment which is expected to reach over 1.2 million homes and businesses in the country by the end of 2014 ....a very welcome statement of confidence in our future by Eircom.

Speaking at the Launch Eircom's Kevin White said:

eFibre fundamentally changes the on-line experience for users. It offers customers superfast fibre broadband at competitive prices.

Eircom said that consumer products start at €40 and €24.79 for business. It said more than 300,000 customers and businesses in Ireland can order eFibre from today
