Taoiseach Enda Kenny today met with the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe.

Prime Minister Abe is visiting Ireland following his participation in the G8 Summit in Lough Erne on Monday and Tuesday.

The Taoiseach and the Prime Minister held talks at Government Buildings.

The leaders discussed bilateral economic, trade and cultural relations between Ireland and Japan, as well as broader economic issues.

The Taoiseach also briefed the Japanese Prime Minister on Ireland's EU Presidency, and they discussed EU-Japan relations and progress on an EU-JapanTrade Agreement.

The Taoiseach and Prime Minister also attended an event in Government Buildings to showcase and build on Ireland and Japan's strong trade and investment relationship of over fifty years and meet representatives of the Japanese and Irish business and research community.
