Statement following the Cabinet Committee on Economic Recovery & Investment

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Recovery & Investment held its inaugural meeting this afternoon chaired by the Tánaiste, Leo Varadkar.

The meeting was attended by An Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, Minister Eamon Ryan, Minister Paschal Donohoe, Minister Heather Humphreys, Minister Catherine Martin, and Minister Michael McGrath and their officials

The Committee held a constructive and wide-ranging discussion on the July Jobs Stimulus, its scale and ideas about what might be included. The committee will meet again next week.

It was agreed that the Stimulus Package would need to be of sufficient speed and scale to give businesses confidence to re-open and stay open so that people can get back to work.

The July Jobs Stimulus will be launched in mid-July.
