Deenihan expresses sympathy on death of Kevin Heffernan

Jimmy Deenihan TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, has expressed his sadness at the death of Kevin Heffernan.

Minister Deenihan commented:

"It was with great sadness that I learned this afternoon of the death of Kevin Heffernan. Kevin was undoubtedly one of the greatest managers ever in Gaelic football. He was responsible for, and led, the revival of Gaelic football in Dublin in the early 1970s. In his youth, he was acknowledged as one of the most skillful forwards to ever play for Dublin.

"Kevin not only introduced innovative new methods of training and coaching, he was also a shrewd tactician. He also made a considerable contribution to the greyhound industry, serving as Chair of Bord na gCon in the 1990s.

"I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the family and many friends of Kevin Heffernan at this time."
