Taoiseach meets Palestrina Choir

Taoiseach Enda Kenny today met the boys of the Palestrina Choir at Government Buildings today to mark the launch of their Christmas Carol Concert which takes place in the National Concert Hall 9th December 2012.

This year will see double platinum selling Fr. Liam Lawton join the annual Christmas celebrations as a special guest, along with the Dublin Brass Ensemble.

The choir will perform a wide selection of carols from over the centuries ranging from carols such as Remember, O Thou Man by Ravenscroft to the much-loved and evocative The Lamb by John Tavener, to all the traditional favourites including, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing and Adeste Fideles.

The Palestrina Choir received an invitation to sing for Pope Benedict XVI in Rome on 6th January 2013. They are only the second choir in 500 years to receive this invite. [Previously the Westminster Cathedral Choir was also invited to sing for the Pope.]
