Taoiseach's meeting with CEOs & Chairs of North South Bodies

The Taoiseach met the Chairs and Chief Executive Officers of North South Implementation Bodies by video call today. The meeting was an opportunity for the Taoiseach to engage with the CEOs and Chairs of the North/South Bodies to discuss the priorities of the Government in the area of North-South cooperation, and hear from the Bodies’ senior leadership about the challenges and opportunities they are currently facing.

The Taoiseach also updated the Chairs and CEOs on the Government’s Shared Island initiative and highlighted that the North South Bodies make a critical contribution to the goal of working together to deliver positive outcomes for all the people of this island.

The Taoiseach expressed his appreciation of the work done by the Bodies and assured them of the Government’s ongoing support.

Speaking after the meeting, the Taoiseach said, “Our Programme for Government emphasises very prominently how North South partnership, using the institutions and bodies of the Good Friday Agreement, is at the heart of our vision for this island.

"The work of the North South Bodies, over more than two decades, has delivered significant benefits for communities, society and the economy across the island of Ireland.

The Irish Government’s  support for the North South Implementation Bodies demonstrates the Government’s ongoing commitment to cross-border co-operation."
