Appointment to the High Court

At its meeting today, the Government agreed to nominate Nuala Butler S.C. for appointment as an Ordinary Judge to the High Court by the President of Ireland. The vacancy for an Ordinary Judge of the High Court arose following the appointment of the Hon. Ms. Justice Teresa Pilkington to the Court of Appeal on 17 September 2020.

 

The Government has taken the necessary steps to formally advise President Higgins of the nomination in accordance with constitutional practice.
