Minister Daly launches annual ‘Technology and Wellbeing’ conference

Jim Daly TD, Minister of State for Mental Health and Older People, today (16th November) launched the joint Mental Health Reform and ReachOut Ireland ‘Technology and Wellbeing’ conference in The Hilton, Charlemont Place, Dublin.

The Minister said “We are living in a fast changing information age where technology plays a significant role in society. Our smartphones and tablets have become part of our everyday lives. We need to ensure that this technology plays a positive part in our general wellbeing and in particular that safety measures are in place to protect younger persons with access to the World Wide Web. Websites such as ReachOut promote a more open and encouraging attitude to dealing with mental health issues”.

Minister Daly commended the innovative eMEN project and its aim to greatly accelerate the eMental Health Sector across Europe and noted that Ireland must embrace the advantages offered by technology.
