Minister Donohoe welcomes appointment of new CEO of PTSB

The Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure & Reform, Paschal Donohoe, T.D., notes today’s announcement by Permanent TSB regarding the appointment of Mr Eamonn Crowley as the bank’s new Chief Executive Officer, following an extensive selection process. In addition, the Minister notes that Mr Jeremy Masding is stepping down from the role.

Commenting on the bank’s announcement, the Minister stated:

Since his appointment as Chief Financial Officer in May 2017, Mr Crowley has played a key role in securing the future of Permanent TSB. In this regard, most importantly, the strength of the balance sheet and the commercial performance of the bank have improved significantly.

Under the stewardship of Mr Masding, Permanent TSB has been transformed into a bank that is once again a major competitor in the Irish banking sector, providing a wide range of financial services to its customers and offering secure employment for its staff. During his time as Chief Executive Officer, the bank has had a number of notable achievements including a return to profitability, a significant improvement in its liquidity and capital positions, the successful re-IPO in 2015, and the exit from its EU Restructuring Plan.

I wish to thank Mr Masding for his commitment, professionalism and drive in the role and wish him well in all his future activities.
