Minister of State for European Affairs, Helen McEntee, launched the Mois de la Francophonie 2019 this morning in Iveagh House.
 
The Month of La Francophonie takes place every year in Ireland in March and April and is a celebration of the French language and cultural diversity in the French-speaking world. The Month of La  Francophonie 2019 will once again showcase a variety of cultural events involving music, literature, film and history along with talks, debates and contests.
 
Speaking after the ceremony, Minister of State for European Affairs, Helen McEntee, said:

I am delighted to launch this year’s the Mois de la Francophonie festival, and I look forward to it continuing to grow as a key moment in our shared cultural calendar.
 
Last year, I attended the Francophonie conference in Yerevan in Armenia where Ireland applied to and became an Observer at the International Organisation of the Francophonie. Ireland attaches great importance to the principles of the Francophonie – the French language and cultural diversity as well as the promotion of the Organisation’s values, including peace, democracy and human rights.

La ministre d'État aux Affaires européennes, Helen McEntee, a lancé ce matin, à Iveagh House, le Mois de la Francophonie 2019.

Le mois de la francophonie a lieu tous les ans en Irlande, en mars et en avril. Il s’agit de célébrer la langue française et la diversité culturelle dans le monde francophone. Le Mois de la Francophonie 2019 présentera une fois de plus des d'événements culturels basés sur la musique, la littérature, le cinéma et l’histoire ainsi que des conférences, des débats et des concours.

La ministre d'État aux Affaires européennes, Helen McEntee, a déclaré après la cérémonie:

Je suis ravie de lancer le Mois de la Francophonie cette année et j’espère que celui-ci continuera de croître en tant que moment clé dans notre calendrier culturel commun.

L'année dernière, j'ai assisté à la conférence de la francophonie à Erevan, en Arménie, où l'Irlande est devenue observateur à l'Organisation internationale de la Francophonie. L’Irlande attache une grande importance aux principes de la Francophonie - la langue française et la diversité culturelle, ainsi qu’à la promotion des valeurs de l’Organisation, notamment la paix, la démocratie et les droits de l’Homme.
