Storm Brendan Update – Public Notice from National Parks & Wildlife Service (NPWS) of the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht

The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) advises the public – for personal safety reasons - to refrain from visiting Killarney National Park while Met Éireann wind warnings are in place.  This is owing to the woodland nature of the site. The NPWS also advises the public not to visit National Parks, National Monuments or Nature Reserves whilst the warnings are  in place and asks for their ongoing cooperation on this matter.

Please note, the following locations are closed due to the wind warnings:

-       Killarney House and Gardens, Co. Kerry

-       Muckross House and Gardens, Co.Kerry

-       Dromore Woods Nature Reserve, Co. Clare

 

-       Coole Park & Gardens Nature Reserve, Gort, Co. Galway

 

-       Connemara National Park, Co. Galway

 

-       Knockma Woods Reserve, Tuam, Co. Galway

 

-       Wild Nephin/Ballycroy National Park (closed since October and will remain so until late March)

-        

A status orange wind warning is issued for all counties today – valid until  3pm for Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Clare, Cork, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford and  valid until 9pm for Connacht, Donegal and Kerry.
