The National Archives are seeking a new Director

The National Archives of Ireland are currently seeking a new Director to manage the day-to-day leadership, strategic development and operational management of the archives.

This is an exciting and challenging time for the National Archives as they are currently undergoing a major redevelopment of new purpose built storage facilities at the National Archives premises in Bishop Street. The new Director will have a significant role in managing these developments and implementing future plans which will see the development of education and outreach facilities.

The new Director of the National Archives will also be responsible for leading, developing and overseeing policy formulation and implementation in the modern information and digital age. The National Archives launched their new website earlier this year, providing the public access to the abundant genealogy collections and contributions by the National Archives to the Decade of Centenaries. The new Director will be required to lead the National Archives as they continue the digitisation of our National Collections, to preserve our national collections and make them available to the public.

The position of Director will be for a five year fixed term contract and will be filled through an open competition. Further information on the role and how to apply are available here.
