Director of National Museum of Ireland to be appointed

Jimmy Deenihan TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht has confirmed that his Department has recently received approval from the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform to fill the post of Director of the National Museum of Ireland.

The recruitment of the new Director of the National Museum of Ireland will be carried out by means of an open competition, managed by the Public Appointments Service.

The Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht has been in contact with the Public Appointments Service in relation to progressing this competition and it is anticipated that the position of Director of the National Museum of Ireland will be advertised publicly in the coming weeks.

The appointment of a new Director at the National Museum of Ireland will follow Director-level appointments by Minister Deenihan, following open competition, at the National Gallery of Ireland, the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), the Arts Council and the National Concert Hall.
