Minister Seán Sherlock launches Guidelines to assist Higher Education Institutions to sustain a healthy entrepreneurial ecosystem

The Minister for Research and Innovation, Seán Sherlock TD, launched Guidelines to assist Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to sustain a healthy entrepreneurial ecosystem at the HETAC/HEA conference on Leaders' Perspectives on Enterprise and Entrepreneurial Education in Dublin Castle today.

The conference has been organised in order to provide a platform to discuss embedding enterprise and entrepreneurship in higher education and to launch the Draft Guidelines and Key Criteria for the Review of Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Education. The Guidelines were developed by a collaborative group representing universities, institutes of technology and independent providers, with the assistance of external experts.

Speaking at the conference the Minister stated “We are here today to discuss ways in which we can imbue our higher education system with an entrepreneurial spirit. The Draft Guidelines and Key Criteria for the Review of Enterprise and Entrepreneurial Education that are to be discussed today are a very welcome initiative in working towards a shared framework for future development in this very important arena.”

“We need to provide a fertile environment with creative and innovative people so that high quality research, development and innovation can flourish and bear fruit for the economy and Irish society.”

The Minister concluded by wishing the participants every success in their deliberations today.
