Minister Quinn announces membership of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment

The Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn T.D., today announced the appointments to the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA).

The appointments are for a three year period to end on 31 March, 2015.

The Council is a statutory body established under the Education Act to advise the Minister on curriculum and assessment matters in early childhood, primary and post primary education.

As previously announced, Brigid McManus former Secretary General of the Department of Education and Skills will chair the NCCA. The role of the Chair of the NCCA is unpaid.

Minister Quinn said: “The NCCA plays a key role in developing, planning and reviewing curriculum and assessment provision in our schools.”

He thanked the out-going members of the NCCA board, including chair Professor Tom Collins, for their work over the past three years.
