Taoiseach meets Chancellor Merkel and Prime Minister Mario Monti

Taoiseach Enda Kenny met with Chancellor Angela Merkel yesterday evening outside Berlin. Also in attendance were the Prime Ministers of Latvia and the Czech Republic.

In a positive, open engagement the leaders discussed a number of issues including the progress Ireland continues to make on the road to economic recovery.

The Taoiseach will be in Rome this morning for a meeting with Prime Minister Mario Monti. This will be the first bilateral meeting between the two leaders since Prime Minister Monti took office 100 days ago.

Discussions at the meeting will focus on eurozone issues, preparations for the Spring European Council, the growth and jobs agenda and the Single Market.
