An Taoiseach and Minister Donohoe travel to Davos World Economic Forum

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and the Minister for Finance will today travel to Davos in Switzerland for the 2019 Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum to meet colleagues and promote Ireland to international partners.
The Taoiseach and Minister Donohoe will promote Ireland’s strong and growing economy, our concerns on Brexit and hopes for the Future of Europe, and our ambition to double Ireland’s global footprint.
The WEF Annual Meeting is attended by political and business leaders, heads of international organisations and international media. This year it will focus on Globalization 4.0: Shaping a Global Architecture in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution’.
The Taoiseach's programme includes bilateral meetings with political leaders at a crucial time for Brexit, and CEOs of multinational firms which have significant operations in Ireland. He joins other heads of government for a live panel debate tomorrow on the continent’s most pressing challenges including Brexit.
The Taoiseach is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders Community. He will engage with some of his fellow Young Global Leaders members at a ‘Meet the Leader’ event to share his vision on the future of Ireland and its place in the world.
Minister Donohoe will take part in a high-level panel on international tax issues alongside the OECD Secretary General, Angel Gurría. He will also have a wide range of political and business-related meetings with other Forum participants.
Throughout their engagements, the Taoiseach and Minister Donohoe will promote Ireland’s strengths as a leading location for business and investment, and our commitment to open, free and rules-based trading.
Both the Taoiseach and Minister Donohoe will attend the annual IDA Ireland event for senior executives of major international companies.
