Minister Coveney undertakes stakeholder engagement on Brexit in London

Minister Coveney is in London today (Thursday 20 July) for a programme of engagements with stakeholders on issues relating to Brexit. His visit will have a particular focus on the potential impact of Brexit across the island of Ireland and between Ireland and the UK.
His programme will involve meeting with key opinion-makers from the business, government, academic and diplomatic spheres, including through engagements with Chatham House and with the British-Irish Chamber of Commerce.
The visit is part of the Government’s ongoing consultation and outreach with stakeholders in response to Brexit.
Speaking in advance of the visit, Minister Coveney said:
“I am very much looking forward to this opportunity to hear directly from people who are involved with dealing with the impact of the Brexit decision in the UK.
"I believe that it is very important that there is a broad range of views and voices in the Brexit debate and I hope to gain perspectives on the situation in the UK at present from my conversations today. I know it will help me in my work and that of the Government.
"It is valuable for those influencing policy in the UK to hear the perspectives from Ireland on the shared challenge we face when it comes to the border and protecting the gains of the peace process.
I will be clear during my visit to London that Ireland remains fully committed to our membership of the EU and is equally intent on preserving our strong relationship with the UK.”
