Children and Youth Affairs Minister Frances Fitzgerald was in Korea for the St. Patrick’s Day weekend. During her visit, Minister Fitzgerald took the opportunity to promote Flahavan’s Porridge, which recently arrived on Korean shelves.

Waterford-based Flahavan’s is targeting sales of up to €160,000 in South Korea this year as part of a bid to introduce porridge to the market.

The company is targeting oatmeal as a rice substitute and have thought up some innovative recipes to help familiarise Koreans with oatmeal.

Already, two containers of Flahavan’s, which is produced in Kilmacthomas in County Waterford, have been brought to Korea.
