Minister Hogan Approves Funding for Ashbourne/Ratoath/Kilbride Sewerage Scheme Contract

Mr. Phil Hogan T.D., Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, today ( 13  July, 2011) announced that he has approved the necessary funding to allow Meath County Council to accept the tender of just over €1.64m from USSR Ltd., for Contract 5 (Network) of the Ashbourne/Ratoath/Kilbride Sewerage Scheme.  The contract is being funded under his Department’s Water Services Investment Programme 2010-2012.

“The contract involves the rehabilitation of the most severe defects within the existing network of the Ashbourne, Ratoath and Kilbride drainage system”, said the Minister.  “It will seal all leaks to prevent infiltration in the existing drainage network and, in combination with other recently completed contracts on this scheme, will complete the provision of high quality sewerage infrastructure in the area”.

The Minister confirmed that his approval will allow Meath County Council to complete the contract formalities with the successful tenderer so that work on the contract can get underway without delay
