Minister Deenihan announces details of a 2014 Co-operation with Northern Ireland funding scheme.

The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Mr. Jimmy Deenihan T.D., today announced details of a Scheme of funding support, for Projects which seek to enhance, celebrate or commemorate the artistic, cultural, musical, film or heritage of the Island of Ireland on a North/South basis.

Projects funded under the Scheme must have a clearly demonstrable North/South element and should seek to make a contribution to enhancing, celebrating or commemorating the artistic, cultural, musical, film or heritage of the whole Island of Ireland.

Projects should be creative and innovative and examples of projects which could be considered for funding under the scheme include, but are not limited to, projects which:

Promote co-operation and joint initiatives between organisations and institutions on a North/South basis;

Promote cultural tourism on a North/South basis;

Promote the provision of cultural outreach programmes on a North/South basis.

In announcing details of the Scheme, the Minister commented:

"This scheme is a wonderful way for people to celebrate the wonderful artistic, cultural, musical, film and heritage that is created and nurtured throughout the Island of Ireland. It is also a vital legacy that we can leave for the future generations"

Applications for funding are invited from all interested cultural bodies. Funding can only be awarded to projects which meet all relevant criteria. Full details on the 2014 Co-operation with Northern Ireland funding scheme are available on the Departments website at:

The closing date for receipt of applications is 28th March 2014.
