Minister Shatter today said, "I deplore the shooting last night of a teenage girl at Brookview Way, Tallaght. All violent deaths are shocking but the killing of a young person especially so. I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to her family and friends."

"The Gardaí have a major investigation underway, an incident room has been established, and technical and forensic examinations are being carried out. The Commissioner will keep me informed of progress on the investigation."
