The Central Statistics Office (CSO) today released the results of the Quarterly National Household Survey for Quarter 2 of 2013, as well as Population and Migration Estimates.

The results showed an annual increase in employment of 1.8% in the year to the second quarter. This brings total employment to 1, 869,900. This is the third successive quarter showing an annual increase in employment.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, employment increased by 9,600 (+0.5%) in the quarter.

Unemployment stands at 300,700 which represents an annual decrease of 22,200, the fourth quarter in succession where unemployment has declined on an annual basis.
