Minister Deenihan visits the set of The Sea in Dublin

Arts Minister Jimmy Deenihan today visited the set of The Sea, a film adaptation of the Man Booker prizewinning John Banville novel.

During a break from filming, the Minister met with key cast members Ciarán Hinds and Sinéad Cusack, along with CEO of the Irish Film Board James Hickey.

Minister Deenihan said:

The film industry is extremely important to Ireland, both in terms of job creation, inward investment and tourism. The film sector contributes significantly to the raising of Ireland's profile abroad with 18% of tourists citing film as a reason for visiting Ireland. Section 481 plays a very important role in bringing production to Ireland and enhances Ireland's reputation as an attractive country for the purposes of co-production.
