MerrionStreet.ie Meets Ireland's Paralympic Team

On Friday the 14th September, the Government hosted a reception for Ireland’s Paralympic Team in Farmleigh House.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny, Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore and Sports Minister Leo Varadkar thanked the atheltes and their families for their efforts and congratulated them on their successes.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny said:

I know that your remarkable performances will encourage more people to focus on ability in all its possibilities all its forms

And I hope that more people living with a disability will take both heart and example from your magnificent displays not just of your skill but of your sheer class your resolve your sportsmanship.

Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore said

I would like to express my gratitude to the Irish team for being such impressive sporting ambassadors for our country. You were a highlight of the London Paralympics – that is clear from the reception you received there. With your elite performance, and your sportsmanship, you have done your country a great service, and made the Irish people extremely proud.
