After Culture Night success, keep the 'culture habit' going - Deenihan

Jimmy Deenihan TD, Minister for the Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, has congratulated the organisers of and participants in Culture Night 2013, and has encouraged people to keep the 'culture habit' going in the months ahead.

This was the eighth year that Culture Night took place and early indications show that the annual celebration of arts and culture has been the most successful yet. Nationally, 1,300 free events took place across the island of Ireland.

Minister Deenihan said:

“Whether people engage with culture a little, a lot, or not at all, there was really something for everyone to enjoy on Culture Night last Friday.

"Following the success of the event, I'm asking people to keep the 'culture habit' going in the months ahead by visiting a cultural centre or taking part in a cultural activity. It would be a great legacy for Culture Night if more people visited Ireland's national cultural institutions, concert halls, local and regional museums, arts centres, galleries and performance spaces in the months ahead.

"I'd like to warmly thank all those who participated in Culture Night, and who made it such a success for locals and tourists alike. I am looking forward to Culture Night growing in size and scale for 2014.”
