An Taoiseach in Brussels for key meetings on Brexit, migration & security

An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar arrives in Brussels today for the start of three days of meetings with fellow European leaders including key talks on Brexit, and a major international Europe-Asia conference later in the week.

He will join Minister of State for European Affairs Helen McEntee who attended meetings earlier this week in Luxembourg alongside the Tanaiste, Simon Coveney.

Twenty-seven Heads of State and Government from across the EU will meet on Wednesday evening to review the Brexit negotiations and assess the next steps.

On Thursday EU leaders come together at the European Council to focus on migration, internal security and external relations. This will be followed by a Euro Summit on economic and financial issues.

The Taoiseach will also attend the ASEM Asia-Europe Summit on Thursday and Friday which brings together the leaders of 51 European and Asian countries to discuss global challenges, trade and investment, connectivity, sustainable development and climate, and security.
