Pyrite Resolution Board confirm that the application system for the pyrite remediation scheme will come into operation on Wednesday 26 February 2014

The application system will be available on the PRB website at www.pyriteboard.ie. All of the information about the scheme is available on the website, including an information leaflet which gives guidance to homeowners on the recognition of the problem.

The following is a synopsis of the conditions that must be satisfied for a dwelling to be deemed eligible for remediation under the Scheme. The full conditions of eligibility can be found in Section 3 of the pyrite remediation scheme document which can be found in the publications section of the website.

Dwellings must be located within the counties of Kildare, Meath or Offaly or the administrative areas of Fingal County Council or Dublin City Council;

Dwellings must have been constructed and completed between 1st January 1997 and 12th December 2013;

Dwellings must have been assessed, tested and certified as having a damage condition rating of 2 and it must be verified that damage is attributable to pyrite heave;

The applicant must be the owner or joint owner of a dwelling. Generally, an application can only be made in respect of one dwelling and the dwelling must have been purchased before 12th December 2013;

The applicant must be able to show, to the satisfaction of the PRB, that he/she does not have available to him or her any practicable option, other than under the Scheme or the use of his or her own resources, to remediate or secure the remediation of the dwelling.
