Appointment of Financial Services Ombudsman Council

The Minister for Finance Michael Noonan T.D. today announced the appointment of four members of the Financial Services Ombudsman Council. These appointments arise from the expiry of the term of office of some Council members on 28 October 2016.

The appointments were made following a public competition held by the Public Appointments Service (PAS) which specifically sought candidates with expertise in the areas of consumer protection issues, the financial services industry and the pensions industry.

The following candidates have been appointed to the Council with effect from 9th January 2017:

Maeve Dineen - Corporate Communications Consultant and formerly Irish Independent Business Editor. Ms Dineen will serve as Chair of the Council.
Demott M. Jewell - Chief Executive, Consumers' Association of Ireland (CAI)
Elizabeth Walsh - Solicitor
Don Gallagher - CEO, Health Insurance Authority
