Appointment to the Supreme Court

At its meeting today, the Government agreed to nominate Mr Justice Gerard Hogan for appointment as an Ordinary Judge to the Supreme Court by the President of Ireland.

 

The vacancy arose following the appointment of Ms. Justice Mary Irvine as the President of the High Court on 18 June 2020.

 

The Government has taken the necessary steps to formally advise President Higgins of the nomination in accordance with constitutional practice.
