Copyright Review Committee invites stakeholders to public meeting in Trinity College

The Copyright Review Committee will host a public meeting next Monday 4th July, in the Robert Emmet Lecture Theatre, Room 2037 Arts Block, Trinity College Dublin, to discuss its work. The meeting will commence at 8.30am and close at 10.00am.

The meeting will be chaired by Dr Eoin O’Dell, Chair of the Copyright Review Committee and the speakers include Brian Fallon, founder Distilled Media, Darragh Doyle, Communications Manager of Boards.ie, TJ McIntyre, Chairman, and Digital Rights Ireland.

The speakers will have 5 minutes each to explain how copyright helps or hinders them in their work, and what impact the Copyright Review Committee’s terms of reference will have on them. The meeting will then be opened to comments from the floor.

Minister for Research & Innovation, Seán Sherlock said: "it is important that we get a clear understanding of the effects of copyright policy, and in particular the economic effects of possible changes to existing copyright law. It is for this reason I feel it is necessary to consult with as wide a range of stakeholders as possible’.

Chairman of the Committee Dr O’Dell said "this public meeting is a key element of the Review Committee’s fact finding and I would encourage anyone with a strong interest in Ireland’s copyright legislation to attend and air their views. It is important for the Review Committee that there is good interaction at the meeting and that a variety of views and ideas from the different copyright interests are presented".Profile of Speakers:Brian Fallon
