Coveney appoints new chairperson of Bord Na gCon

The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney TD, today confirmed the appointment of Mr Phil Meaney as chairperson of Bord na gCon, in succession to Mr Dick O’Sullivan, who retired from his position last month.

Minister Coveney described Mr Meany as “eminently well qualified for this appointment, given both his successful business background and his involvement in the greyhound industry over a period of 25 years, including his recently-held position as chairman of the Kilkenny Greyhound Company Limited.”

The Minister said that Bord na gCon has “a very important role to play in the improvement and development of the Irish greyhound industry and I am pleased that somebody of Mr Meaney’s experience has agreed to take on the role of chairman at this challenging time and I wish him every success during his term of office.”
