Deenihan expresses his sadness at the passing of the renowned artist Barrie Cooke.

Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Jimmy Deenihan TD, has expressed his sadness at the passing of the renowned artist Barrie Cooke.

Minister for the Arts Jimmy Deenihan TD commented:

"I am saddened to hear of the death of Barrie Cooke. Barrie's career was one of prodigious achievement. From his first solo exhibition in Ireland in 1955 to the seminal exhibition at IMMA, the Crawford and the Centre Culturel in Paris in 2012, he was a master of his craft with many followers, at home and abroad. Barrie had an exquisite eye and a unique talent, and the Irish arts world is the poorer for his passing.”
